What is a TM retreat/residence course?

A TM Residence is a delightful experience, really establishing you in the regular practice and maximum benefits of Transcendental Meditation™ and the TM-Sidhi Programme®. For short or long-term Meditators and Sidhas it is an opportunity to take a step back from what is often a busy life, and to return refreshed.

What is ‘rounding'?

Meditators follow the time-tested formula of ‘rounding' including simple yoga postures, breathing exercise, which are demonstrated at the start of the course and extra meditation. This can be done in the privacy of your own room or, whenever possible, we offer the option of ‘group rounding'. This aspect of the course takes about 2 hours morning and evening. It is followed by a group meeting for discussion of experiences and a group check of your meditation. Sidhas enjoy an extended TM-Sidhi Programme in dedicated group facilities.

Daily meetings will revolve around recordings of fascinating talks by Maharishi drawn from different periods over the last 40 years, so that we easily gain a clearer framework for understanding our personal experience in meditation as it grows in richness, and the effortless integration of pure consciousness into everyday life.  There will be opportunities to have both individual and group checking sessions to
ensure we are gaining maximum benefit and depth of experience from our daily TM.

“Happiness is the goal of everyone. In order to attain it, what we
have to do is reach inwards and with the help of Transcendental
Meditation let the mind rise to the level of perfect happiness, utter bliss”
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi®

Course Leaders: David Rae, national leader of  TM in Scotland, has organised and run over 100 weekend courses over the last 35 years or so: “my satisfaction comes from helping everyone to enjoy the full value of the priceless knowledge Maharishi brought to us in the gentle, uplifting environment that these courses create. The formula is Maharishi’s own: it provides the deepest possible rest in the shortest time and sends everyone home feeling rejuvenated.”

Leesha Gaffney has recently completed her training and taken to Teaching TM as a second career after bringing up a lively family of three. She has taught languages in schools for many years and with her husband has been a very active member if the Maharishi Sidhaland community at Skelmersdale since the 1980s

How to get there: Arran lies in the beautiful Firth of Clyde, about 50 minutes by ferry from the port of Ardrossan, where regular trains from Glasgow connect at the quayside with the ferries. Transport from the pier at Brodick to Altachorvie is by local bus or taxi and the journey takes about 10 minutes.
