Our mission


We aim to provide education for the public by offering courses and services of the highest quality to develop the full mental and creative potential of the individual and create peace in the world.  Courses include Transcendental Meditation and its advanced technique and other related programmes such as Maharishi Ayurveda Healthcare.

Working with other agencies

We are eager to do joint work with schools, community agencies, health-care and support groups and in the work place so that our courses can be implemented in many areas of society.

Fundraising

'TM For Glasgow' Fund has been established to attract donations to support the implementation of theses programmes in areas of special need.

Research

We encourage and support independent academic institutions to carry out scientific research into the benefits of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques.  Read more

Glasgow TM Centre is run by Angela, Iain and a dynamic team of volunteers

Angela Landers comes from Cork, Ireland where she worked as a nurse.  She moved to Glasgow in 1995 to study Occupational Therapy.   She has many years' experience of working in the public health sector including drug rehabilitation counselling. Her quest for a truly holistic system of natural health care came to fruition when she discovered Maharishi Ayurveda and Transcendental Meditation™ in Glasgow in 1999. This led her to complete her second degree in Health & Physiology, at Maharishi University of Management, USA that included the study of Maharishi Ayur-Veda. Immediately following that she became a teacher of Transcendental Meditation and moved back to Glasgow in 2007 to act as coordinator of the Glasgow Transcendental Meditation Centre.


Iain learned Transcendental Meditation in 1994 in Glasgow, after which he began university and graduated with a BA in Religious Studies and an MLitt in Cultural Studies. In 2001 he began his career as an educator in both private and public institutions in six different countries across Europe. Iain has taught corporate language skills and inter-cultural awareness to employees of multi-national companies such a Nestle and Sony, as well as in the German banking sector. What is more he is a teacher of English, Media and Religion at secondary level. He graduated as a Teacher of Transcendental Meditation in 2009 with the aim to introduce TM to vulnerable groups and especially in the education sector. He has been involved with the David Lynch Foundation UK since 2011 and has led TM residential courses in the UK, Europe and India. Iain lives in Glasgow with his wife Anna who is also a teacher of Transcendental Meditation; they both love the energy of the city and of course the friendliness and humour of its people.


The teaching of Transcendental Meditation is administered by a national educational charity, Maharishi Foundation®, registered charity number 270157 which maintains the standard of teaching nationwide.   Read more
